Use an Anti Inflammatory Grocery List and Let Your Diet Battle Inflammation
Long term inflammation is something that many people have to deal with. It can be a sign of serious problems or be a sign that the body is potentially going to have to deal with diabetes, strokes or heart disease. Many infections get worse when someone is eating foods that can cause inflammation.
Thankfully, inflammation can actually be fought just by what you eat. Many foods feature compounds which help to reduce the inflammation occurring within the body. By simply altering your grocery list to something heavier in anti-inflammatory foods, you can immediately be doing quite a bit for your body. These sorts of beneficial choices are something that anyone who’s dealing with inflammation should be making. This article will look at many of the anti-inflammatory foods that people should be eating.
1 - Fish
This specifically refers to “fatty” fish, which includes salmon, herring, anchovies, herring and sardines. Why is fatty fish such a good choice? Quite simply it’s because of the high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids. Fatty fish contains multiple Omega-3s, making them a perfect choice. In addition, fish are excellent sources of protein which can also assist in fighting inflammation. If you’re not vegetarian or vegan, then fish should be high on your shopping list.
2 - Broccoli
When it comes to health, it’s hard to beat out cruciferous vegetables for almost any diet. They are absolutely packed full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Broccoli specifically has several components which fight inflammation by reducing the production of inflammation creating substances within the body. While broccoli is the lead, there are other cruciferous veggies that could make your shopping list as well. Kalke and cauliflower are both excellent choices. Like other items on this list, you can adjust your shopping list depending on what you want to start making.
3 - Blueberries
Almost everyone knows that berries are packed full of greatness, but still they aren’t making it onto everyone’s shopping list. Berries are packed full of fiber, making them great for health in a number of ways. They are also high in vitamins and minerals. Vitamin A acts as a major anti-inflammatory in the body. Want to guess what Blueberries are packed full of? Vitamin A of course. To be fair, other berries are also good options, so if the flavor of blueberries doesn’t appeal you can instead try out raspberries, blackberries or strawberries. Studies are regularly showing just how great berries are for inflammation so it’s time to get them on the grocery list.
4 - Dark Chocolate
Here’s a delicious item you can add to your shopping list that will help fight inflammation. Dark chocolate is packed full of antioxidants to help with reducing inflammation of course. Dark chocolate also allows people to get their chocolate fix while doing so in a beneficial way. It’s important to note that you want to ensure that you’re eating at least chocolate with 70% cacao. If you have less than that, then it’s likely the chocolate has too much sugar, which is going to negate the whole purpose.
5 - Tomatoes
Tomatoes are a simple and common ingredient which can really help with inflammation once you pop them onto your grocery list. Multiple compounds within tomatoes all work together to help reduce the compounds that cause inflammation. It helps that tomatoes can be cooked in so many ways. For people who don’t enjoy the taste, it’s fairly easy to find ways to disguise the taste of tomatoes in your cooking so that you can still get the health benefits without the flavor.
