Too much screen time has been shown to increase stress and is also something that will commonly affect a person’s sleep abilities. It’s important to set limits and to manage your time with screen time.
2 - Consistent Physical Activity
People who regularly exercise manage to reduce their stress levels and typically feel better. Quite simply, being fit has a huge impact on fitness in many different ways and helps general health. It’s important to ramp up physical fitness slowly. Don’t leap into hardcore fitness routines if you have been living a sedentary lifestyle. Instead try to ease in with some walking, biking or light aerobics. Know that an injury caused by overdoing it is only going to discourage anyone who is trying to get more fit.
3 - Examine Your Triggers
One thing you can do is try to determine what triggers anxiety or anxiety attacks. A good way to do this is by journaling and keeping a history of your anxiety. Try to note what you were doing and what caused the anxiety, as well as how strong the anxiety felt. Knowing what potential triggers are beforehand can make a big difference. You can either avoid them or prepare for them. When you’re keeping a journal, try to look for patterns to best identify triggers.
4 - Adjust Your Diet
Just like including physical activity, eating a proper diet can make a big difference in general health, but also with dealing with anxiety. People who are eating healthy foods on a regular basis will have more energy and reduced stress in addition to increased general health. Most people try to fight or avoid anxious feelings. In many cases, fighting feelings of anxiety are what can bring on a full blown anxiety attack. One thing that you can do is try to accept anxiety when it arises. This involves accepting that your body is reacting because you feel nervous. It helps to point out why that particular trigger is causing the anxiety. From there, it’s important to talk to yourself and remind yourself that it’s alright to feel anxious at times and that it’s a normal and healthy response to many situations.
