Improving Your Home Bar Could Come Down to a Few Clever Ideas

Home bars are an excellent way to spice up any home and party and make guests feel like they're in a fun city loft. With the right décor, furniture, and supplies, you can transform your basement into a sophisticated speakeasy or have your friends feeling like they're sipping on mojitos at the beach. It's an excellent way to have some fun in a room that's usually dormant, and it can be downright helpful in spending time with friends. Of course, designing your own home bar isn’t easy. It’s much like any kind of home decor. If you make some mistakes, you run the risk of making something displeasing. However, the difference between a mundane bar or a fun bar can be as simple as a couple of good ideas. This article will look at some things to make sure your bar is “top shelf”.

1 - Prioritize Your Glassware

It may sound like a no-brainer; however, only a few bar glasses ever get used at home, and they wind up neglected because they're all in the dishwasher. Instead, make it a priority to give these items the proper respect. It's all about presentation: you want to ensure that when guests set their glass down for whatever reason, it is on top of the perfect coaster or resting on a cool and stylish coaster holder. Drinks that aren't sitting upon something look bad; this will ensure that you won't have to be as worried about replacements if any damage occurs to them (accidentally knocked over).

2 - Consider Your Seating

You may not realize it, but being in a comfortable position will affect how people drink. You'll have more fun sitting in a well-liked chair than standing at the bar. It's also a good idea if you want your friends to stay longer at your party. Chairs or stools can even express different feelings depending on their arrangement and what kind of décor is around them. Think about it; if you have a vase on the table with flowers and that floral arrangement is tied to the chairs, it won't make anyone feel better. However, if you have coasters for your guests to rest their glass upon and a little piece of art hanging nearby (perhaps something abstract or minimalist), it will make guests feel more relaxed and less like they're being watched.

3 - Keep Your Drinks Well-Stocked

Remember to keep some bar shaker bottles on hand if needed. You never know when someone will ask for something whipped up right before their eyes. It also helps to have a few bottles of different types of drinks. For example, you could keep three bottles of vodka, one bottle of gin, and one bottle of whisky. This way, you'll always have what guests want when they visit their little home bar. Keeping some flavored syrups on hand is good if someone asks for something sweet.

4 - Add Style To Your Barware (And Your Home)

The more well-decorated your barware is, the more charming guests will feel when visiting your home bar. With this in mind, you'll want to ensure you have a plentiful supply of both spirits that your guests will enjoy. Three things are essential. First,  you'll want to choose a theme to go with it. Secondly, you'll need a nice box where your barware will go. Finally, you'll need some items that are pretty that can be placed on the table or the counter. The first two are easy enough. As mentioned earlier, if it's a speakeasy theme or if your guests are going to be sipping on tropical cocktails, then there's no need for flair. However, if it's more sophisticated, then maybe there is some room for some beautiful beverage accessories.

Home bars are beautiful places to spend some time and enjoy the company of your friends and family. They can also be handy for entertaining large groups of people because there are a lot of drink options out there that you can offer guests, and it's much easier serving drinks from behind the bar rather than standing in front of someone's face while they're trying to watch TV or talk with the other guests. Many people like to drink and are usually willing to go out of the way to enjoy a good drink. So while you can't be in every living room, you can ensure your home bar makes guests feel pampered and at home.
